Fit Tip Aug 14th

Most of you have told me that the battle with losing weight isn’t as easy as it once was. Then I tell you when to workout and what to eat.  Everyone….eventually loves working out but not everyone loves eating right. Today I would like to reach out to those of you who are having trouble motivating yourself to eat right by giving you my two most humbling ways to motivate yourself to eat right.

Make yourself wear spandex until you can “wear spandex”.
If you look terrible in it, you’ll pass on the morning doughnut ritual won’t you…..plus you’ll save yourself some time getting changed to go to the gym after work.

Eat Naked

Eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner naked in front of a mirror. If you don’t like what you see you may make yourself sick…in which case, you won’t eat as much.

Still Not Motivated

Save 10% when you hire a trainer so you’re fit before the holidays……your in-laws don’t want to see you naked at Thanksgiving Dinner!

To see those who quit wearing spandex and eating naked, go to betterbodiestucson.com.

See you in the gym,

Patience

Growing up in my home, both my Dad and I were (unfortunately, I still am) quite impatient in almost all things. We wanted it “now.” We never wanted to wait on anything.

It takes time for good things to happen. The things we do in our lives that usually have great lasting results are those that are formed with thought. And, let’s face it, a whole lot of “tweaking” and interaction will be involved as well.

Most people never wait on anything. In the event of a hunger pain, we have fast food; getting fat because of fast food, we have HCG or Surgery; feeling depressed because you eat like crap and are overweight, take Zoloft; anxious because you’re stuck in line at McDonalds, try Buspar; Can’t sleep because you drink 6 espresso shots every day to offset Zoloft and Buspar, pop an Ambien; Money problems because your too stoned to work, get a car title loan.

Whether you want to lose 100 pounds or save 100 million dollars, you need to realize there is no magic pill and no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow……so get focused, work hard and be patient!

For those of you trying to lose 100 pounds or more……..remember all you need to do is:
A)    Exercise HARD 3 to 5 times per week
B)    Eat vegetables, fruits, meats and nuts
C)    Focus on your goal
D)    Know that some weeks are better wt. loss weeks than others
E)     Be patient

There’s an Old English proverb that says, “All good things come to those who wait.” This reference is speaking to us on being faithful. Obviously, it’s speaking about patience and why we need to wait but expect great things.

To lose 100 pounds, stay faithful to your expectations and above all else, remember to stay patient.

Summer Sweats require Summer Shakes

Eating healthy is especially important in the summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a warm weather sweet treat!
Summer is one of the ideal times of the year to detoxify and give your body a leg up on being healthy. Lots of exercise and hot temperatures means you’re doing plenty of sweating. And that’s a beautiful thing!

Sweating allows your skin – a major organ of detoxification – to release harmful toxins.

Toxins are everywhere, from pollution to pesticides, and it’s important to expel them from your body. To help boost your body’s ability to sweat out toxins, be sure to drink plenty of pure, filtered water from a safe source throughout your day.

After your workout, your body is ready to be replenished with nutrients.

If you’re craving something sweet, there’s nothing better than one of our clean and delicious shakes made of real fruit.

TIP OF THE WEEK: The 80/20 Rule

Everyone’s heard of it. I try to live by the 80/20 rule that says I do what I’m supposed to be doing for my health 80% of the time, so that 20% of the time I can have the freedom to enjoy weekend pool side BBQ’s or have desert at my sons birthday party. Lets not even get into holidays. And come on… WE KNOW these times are coming every year. Why not plan for these occasions with a healthy workout regimen and sensible eating plan 80% of the time.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Fun In The Sun

Summer vacation season is here!! We would like to remind you to discuss your trips with a trainer for fun workout ideas and nutritional needs for ongoing results…….

But will you really workout on vacation? Isn't the point to take a break from real life? Getting away from reality is good for the soul, and getting away from the usual workout routine is good for the body. However, a vacation can be the perfect time to exercise. By freeing yourself from your routine, you open your mind to new ways to move your body and, the best part is, you can have fun all at the same time.
Cardio

If you want to keep your cardio endurance while having fun, there are tons of activities that will give you a great workout without feeling like exercise. Some of the best workouts include:

Walking on the beach. Walking in soft sand is a killer workout and burns more calories than walking on flat ground. Some experts suggest that you can burn twice as many calories walking in soft sand. Keep it safe by wearing shoes (you may get shin splints if you go barefoot for too long) and going for a few minutes at a time to get used to it. You'll be surprised how hard it is.

Beach volleyball. You can burn more than 150 calories an hour, depending on how hard you work and what other activity allows you to look so good while you sweat?

Surfing, swimming and snorkeling. Surfing is a total body workout that will challenge every muscle in your body. Even if you just paddle out to the waves and fall off (like I do), you'll get a great workout. Snorkeling is a bit more leisurely, but you can add intensity by swimming a little harder.

Leisurely bike rides. Long bike rides are a great way to see the area while getting in some low-intensity exercise. If you take your time and go all day, you'll burn calories without even thinking about it.

Hiking. Anytime you add elevation to your walks, you'll burn more calories. If you carry a backpack, you'll challenge yourself even more, all while enjoying a little nature.

Golf. Golf can be a dud of a workout if you ride around in a cart and drink beer at every hole. If you want to burn more calories, carry your clubs and walk the course. You'll burn around 200-300 calories per hour.

Tennis. Like golf, a game of tennis can be as easy or hard as you want it to be. Chasing the ball and hitting it like you're Serena Williams or Roger Federer will give you a great workout, burning up to 400 calories for a 150-lb person.

Lifting weights, however, presents more of a challenge. You usually don't have much equipment and the thought of going to the hotel fitness room isn't that appealing when you're trying to have fun. You don't have to do much, however, to maintain your strength and muscle while you're out of town. A quick workout with body weight exercises, resistance bands or full water bottles will keep you strong and fit until you get back to your trainer.

Hope your summer is off to a great start and thank you from all of the staff at Better Bodies and Me salon for the opportunity to serve you.

Stay active,
Jeramy Price

cellulite

At least 20 ladies per month ask me about cellulite – mostly on the thighs or on the upper arms, and this is why so many beauty clinics are offering various remedies at various costs to suit everyone’s pocket. If you wish to enjoy wearing a two-piece, without worry, then it’s time to take care of the problem.

There is a number of ways to get rid of or reduce cellulite – Exercise, diet, cosmetic surgery, and creams that only work in your dreams.

In conjunction with a healthy diet made of fruits, veggies, lean meats and nuts, fast-paced resistance training exercise is the superb way to combat cellulite. It’s not to say that this type of exercise alone cannot fight the flab, but its wise to eat right.

Build muscle: don’t get worried – its not about getting six pack abs or making your biceps “pop” when you flex them. The fact is that for every single pound of muscle you possess, this translates into the burning of an extra 50 calories each and every single day.

Again, let me emphasis its not about creating huge muscles. Its simply about adding a few pounds of muscle by lifting weights in the gym a few times a week.

If you’re unsure what weights to lift or how to lift them, hire one of the trainers or take a bootcamp class-----either way you’ll get the cellulite off you’re a..!

Happy Mother’s Day
